How Dr. & The Interns Formed
Tom Carlock's old band, Aces Up,
was playing in a reunion gig in Teaneck, NJ and a friend that
was at that show mentioned some parents where our kids went to
school were looking at getting together to play some music.
I was formerly
introduced to Tony Bruno and Tom Purwin. After a few
conversations with Tony and Tom we set a date and jammed at
Tony's house. Tony got his brother, Basil, to play Bass and a
friend from an old band, American Rhythm, Mike Corrado came down
to play Sax along with Rhythm guitarist Vinnie Grillo.
Well after an hour and a few cold ones we knew we had something
special and decided to play out. We threw 30 songs together and
played at our 1st gig, a Mardi Gras Dance in March 2002. It went
well and we decided to continue.
Since then we have played throughout the tri state area and are
committed to playing a wide variety of music from today's top 10
music all the way back to the 50's and trying to cover songs
that other bands are not covering. Having a sax/flute player
allows us to play almost any song including one of our favorite
artists... The Boss! |
